Going out for birthdays. Good or bad idea.

The baby is due May 6th, and my SO is turning 21 on May 10th.
If I'm still pregnant by then, we're just going to go out as long as the Dr. hasn't put me on bed rest or something of the sort. If I've already had the baby and I'm feeling up for it and all, he wants to have a 'first family outting' type thing for his brthday. Would it be okay to take the baby out or would it be too early to be around that many people? Or is it just up to their health and the current situations?
And my 18th birthday is June 17th, just a month later, we want to have a mommy and daddy date because I really don't do anything for myself according to him, he just wants to plan something special for us, especially me.
If we do take the baby, any good ideas for us to do?
And any ideas if we don't?
Wedon't drink, so we wouldn't go out to a club or bar or anything like that.
Or is going out for either birthday just a bad idea all together.
Yes, I know the baby was just born. But our birthdays and anniversary would be the only time we would go out in general, really. If we go out more often it would be with the baby for sure. I don't know about him just yet, but I really don't plan on just giving the baby to my Mom and leaving. Those two birthdays are just kind of special to us, being the 21st and 18th.

I'd wait if the baby is SO new that first time...

I wouldn't take LO out the first time at just a few days old, they have no immune system.

i left the hospital and went straight to walmart before i even took Jett home! lol. he was 2 days old and it was a saturday so everyone and hell was there.. but i needed to pick up my prescription pain pills and get some newborn diapers since all i had were size 1 and he was too small for them. plus i wanted some U shaped for the umbillical cord stump.

when he was 3 weeks old i took him to a Texas Rangers Ball game... nothing bad ever happened to him..

just keep a bottle of germx with you and make everyone wash their hands and use some purell or whatever before holding the kid if you let them touch him at all!

You might not want to move that soon after having the baby. I'd wait especially with the h1n1 crap around. Maybe just do something at home special!

Actually a babies immune system is pretty good for the first 6 months of their lives...HOWEVER that being said I would wait on going out for SO Birthday but for yours i think baby would be fine to have an outing..

I agree with most of what you said but you should NEVER put germex on an infants hands...that stuff is toxic if swallowed even in just small amounts..they have had some recalls of it recently because of this actually..or wait do you mean have OLDER ppl use it on their hands lol?? sorry i think i may have read that last part wrong

it should be fine, as I have a book about waiting, and it says you took the baby oustide to bring it home?
it should be fine, you might change your mind when you have the baby though.

Yeah we probably will, but we're going to try and do something. If we don't take the baby they'll be with my Mom. But that's only if it isn't safe for them to be out or if we're going somewhere they baby just.. shouldn't go. Like the movies or going bowling for a game or two where it's loud and busy and full of germs and gross people. Lol.

ide deff wait they even say if you have to take baby out to cover the car seat with a light blanket and with all the swine flu stuff going around deff wait and who knows you might just wanna stay home and cuddle with your new bundle of joy

Yeah. We might end up doing that. All I wanted to do for my birthday was just dinner and hopefully get another set in my ears, I've been wanting 'em for a few years now. He said he just wants to have family time with me and the baby.
