The Girl Name. :]

posted 6th Nov
So we went to the doctor yesterday and I got a quick ultrasound she looked for the gender and said wasn't 100% sure but she was like 65-70% sure that it was a girl!!!!! She showed us the 3 lines so thats why we are that certain but she did say don't go out and buy pink stuff yet. LOL.

but anyways our name that we have chosen is:
McKenna Rachelle Brockman.

How do you guys like it? Thats all I am wondering. thanks. :]

Not really. McKenna is WAY trendy and faux-Scottish. If your going to use it, at least spell it the traditional way, Makenna. (It's actually African, not Scottish) Besides....the Mcthing looks like a McNugget or a McDouble.

well its kind of like McKenzie or something like that. and actually MaKenna is a form of McKenna.

The meaning of the name Makenna is Son Of Kenneth
The origin of the name Makenna is American
Alternate spellings: Makena
Notes: Form of McKenna

The meaning of the name Mckenna is Son Of Kenneth
The origin of the name Mckenna is Scottish

even thoughthe meaning of it is Son of Kenneth it's still a beautiful name either way. and around here I don't here often to no little.

Be careful of where you get your info from, lol. Most "name sites" are complete and utter crap when it comes to accurate info on origins and meanings. It all has to do with Etymology. I can guarantee you that McKenna is neither Scottish, nor does it hold that meaning. Trust me, I'm basically an expert, lol. My love for names got me into my field of study, so I might just know a LITTLE bit of what I'm talking about.

And what is MaKenna? Why the random capitals in the middle of names? It serves no purpose and looks ridicules.

well im not saying you don't know anything about names. I am postively sure you do and probably know way more than me to me being only 19 and this being my first child. it's just I got my information from babynames.com and you are probably right about it being crap. Also MaKenna usually with any names with Mc is like McKenzie, McKenna, so I just thought it would be spelt like that as well. I just wanted a name that nobody really hears and around here nobody really does...I have never heard McKenna until I seen it in a baby name site. I just really like it and how it's spelt. Also I like it with the middle name Rachelle I thought it went well together.

I'm only 19 as well, but I've been doing research on names since I was like, 14, I even got to be a Personal Name Adviser when baby names world was still open. It's nerdy to the extreme and a bit embarrassing to admit in real life, but we all have a secret passions and names is mine.

Unfortunately, MaKenna and all of her variants are extremely trendy and popular right now. Rachelle is nice. What about something like Maren (means "of the sea") or Malia (Hawaiian form of "Mary") or maybe even Milana meaning 'Gracious". instead?
