imo, no. We have one and it broke before we even tested it out. so I never had one and we managed. I just putwarm water in a cup or bowl and put his bottle there. He drinks his formula a bit cool, so wejust warm it enough to take the chill off.

from what i know if you plan on BFing (pumping it & bottle feeding) they are a must because you can't put breast milk in the microwave. not sure about formula feeding though. i have one i got from a friend so we'll see how it works out for me.

from what i have heard that device is amazing for 2am diaper changes because cold wipes on a babys butt will cause a meltdown .

Gavin never used one (and we have one) and he survived. Imo, if you gethim used to having warm wipes...whahts going to happen when you can't warm it up?

I just kind of warmed it up (it was cold here when Gav was a NB) with my hands.

Not to mention bacteria can breed from it. No thanks. Gavin is happy with a cold butt

babies scream regardless ifit's warm or cold.
NB eventually gets used to diaper changings...until then (doesn't matter the time) they scream. And my son was a screamer for about 3 weeks.

if you want to get technical pretty much nothing is a necessity. our great-grandparents got by fine without most of the things we use today.

wipe warmers depend on the baby. if you are changing a sensitive baby's butt in the middle of the winter they can be a life saver. wipes can get cold! some babies hate that.

well you can't get by without a bed or a carseat really. And a changing table is pretty needed. But yes, technically our greatgrandparents used a lot less than the modern mother uses today.

I just said that a wipe warmer is hardly a neccessity because the OP asked what is totally NEEDED. You can also warm the wipe with your hand, and if you are not an eskimo and the wipes are in a heated home in the winter, then they should already be 67-71 degrees warm already. Baby can deal without a warmer unless it is a queen-baby.

imo, changing table isn'treally needed. I change Gavin mostly in it, but there's times when the floor works just as well (with something underneath, of course).

Understandable. Like I said, I usually put him in his too (and since we managed somehow to clip a mobile onto it, he likes getting his diapers changed).
But when you need to change him NOW, and your changing table is in another room or upstairs.. yeah, it's just more convienent to do it right then and there. People say it's a waste of money..I actually like them.

IMO changing tables are completely unnecessary. i don't know anyone who uses one. seems much more convinient to just change them on the floor or couch or wherever you may be. i can only really see the point of them for old people who have a hard time getting up and down off the ground and such.

I have a basset hound and she sheds like a mo-fo. I don't want my clean little baby on a hairy floor - no matter how much I sweep it is still there. I have hardwood floors and I don't want to put a 2 month old down on.

So, that said, now you "know" someone who is going to use one!

totally! If I had no pets and a maid and a carpet, maybe a changing table would not be so needed, but I have none of the above, so it is kinda needed if I don't want a hairy, hard floor baby.
