checking car seat

When I fly with my 8 month old alone, i am going to check his convertible car seat. did anyone do this and did the car seat turn out okay?do they give you bags to put the car seat in? did you check the whole car seat?i am also taking his travel system stroller with me to the gate. but not the infant seat, cuz he is gettin tall and he will fit better in his big convertible car seat i think. tips? or did anyone buy a carseat bag from walmart before? are they good, i am thinking about getting the one with padding, it's about 30 bucks, i believe.

when i took my son's car seat on a plane they didn't put it in a bag so it got kind or dirty, i just took the cover off when we got to where we were staying at washed it. the stroller you can take to the plane with you and they'll stick it under and you'll get it back when you land and get off the plane. you may want to ask if they have a bag to put the car seat in

i might just buy one from walmart. they are about 20-30 bucks but might be a good investment.
