Fort Hood (tears shed for you!)

First things first... my thoughts are with those in Fort Hood... whether you lost someone or not, what you all went through yesterday must have been gut wrenching. It is truly devastating and I can't express how bad I felt thinking that a soldier would do this to fellow soldiers. Much love to those closest to it.

Now to the topic... how are people reacting to this? Especially now that we know the guy is Muslim, was ranked a Major in the Army, served as a psychiatrist to other soldiers, and chose specifically the deployment readiness building for his shooting spree.
I'm seeing a pattern here, but perhaps its just me. I know how these soldiers feel about Muslims when they get back from Iraq/Afghanistan... My husband is one of the most open-minded liberal soldiers you will find and even he has become somewhat racial because of his experiences overseas... and undoubtedly this guy had to hear some of the worst of it being a psychiatrist. I just want to know what others think the underlying issues here may be.

I really don't think anyone can speculate much. Nobody will ever truly know his motives. I just feel sad for all of the families involved and the entire country for the loss of great soldiers.

I feel sad that this happaned. One of our men did this to his own "brothers". My dad is there doing the "personal effects" and I couldnt even imagine what is running threw any of their minds right now.

being a muslim american...it sickens me that he did this..if he thought this would help any muslim..then he's crazier than anyone thinkgs..this is just gonna make it harder for muslim americans to live..i don't even know what i'm gonna do when its time for me to come back to texas with my son...i guess i could always go back to brooklyn..

god this sucks..ppl just got over 9/11 now some stupid man who claims he's muslim just made our lives and our children's lives that much harder

i feel sad for the soldier they said he was made fun of bc he is muslim(thats what it said on the local news here) , jsut because your muslim doesnt mean anything, especially if your a U.S soldier, i see it this way .. you should respect a fellow soldier wether they are muslim, or catholic or any other religion or no religion at all.. your sopose to back eachother up ..i see it as brotherhood and they failed at that..but then again thats just ME. my thoughts and prayers go out to all the familys and soldiers in ft.hood.

I am so sorry you feel that way and that it happens. It sickens me that real racism still exists.

that's not racism... muslims aren't a race, they're a religion.

I don't care what religion he is/was. From what I've been hearing he was posting extremist views online and was being watched by the govt. already.   I don't understand how he was allowed to stay in the u.s. military.

!!!!! That is what we tried to tell her but, apparently we were just jumping her shit because she was Arab and muslim. Whatever!

I dont care what religion he is.. Its sad that it got to this extreme before something was done. However, I am glad his traitor ass is not going to be serving next to my husband over seas.
