Forms of pain relief during labor?

I dont want an Epidural...what are the other options that I have since i dont want to risk the baby to the Epi?

Like natural pain relief or what?

If you want meds, if you're not too far along in your labor, they will give you IV narcotic pain meds

they have one they put in thtough your IV> i think its called stadol. i hated it. it made me feel high, i couldnt open my eyes. it slowed down my contractions and i could still feel them. i just felt high. i had no problem with the epi. i loved it

I was planning to get an epi, but didn't want it yet, so they gave me something through my IV. Idk the name of it, somebody else probably will, I was way out of it. Anyways, it didn't help, just made me feel drunk, then sick, then very tired.

thats what i mean do they work as well as an epidural? im really scared about getting one.

ooh poor thing......this isnt helping.....i just dont want to feel all the pian, i cant handle pain very well and ive heard so many bad things about getting an epidural

I've never had the IV meds.....I've had 2 epidurals though, and they worked just fine, no problems.

I've also had a completely unmedicated birth, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I have heard lots of good and lots of bad things too. I had a really good experience with mine. I have no complaints about it hurting while they were putting it in and as soon as it was, ahhhh sweet relief.  I had it in long enough that I knew when to push, I could feel pressure but wasn't in pain. It is scary to think about, but just remind yourself that it is a natural process and womens bodies are made to birth babies   You'll do fine mommy

see i dont know how bad the pain is so i dont know what to do, the epidural has some really bad and good side effects and others make mommys loopy...idk what to do...and them putting a catheter in me...owch!!!!

They put it in after the epi so you can't feel
