ERF

My child extended rear faces.
My child does not and it doesn't bother me.
I didn't know about ERF until now or before my child was 2.
I'm unsure of what we will choose for our child.

ERF

excuse this hastily thrown together topic. i'm just a little irratated today lol.

ERF video:

Extended rear facing is so important. So what I'm wondering is why do people choose not to do it if they know about it? Why wouldn't you take that extra precaution for your child especially when you see videos like this?
Or do you simply not know about ERF?

Poll: Do you rear face or not?

My boyfriends sister called us "ridiculous" for spending $280 on our Britax Marathon car seat saying she got hers for 100 dollars less but it just doesn't rear face. Seriously? Why wouldn't you WANT to spend that extra money and go that extra mile. Especially when you have that money. Which she does.

Some people actually beileve that the guildlines & requirements that are currently set into place are fine. Dr. & other medical professionals claim the neck muscles are strong enough.
It's truly a matter of opinion.
My kids been forward facing since 13 1/2 months old.

Unfortunately I didn't know about ERF when my daughter was younger. She was FF at 15 months. Thankfully, nothing happened.

My son will ERF until he his 2 and/or 35lbs.

YES

My oldest rear faced til 3 and is now EH is a Britax Regent

My youngest is still rear facing and is 2 he is in a Safety First Complete Air.

I really do not understand people who do not ERF, the information is there. Why you would intentionally endanger your child for your convenience is beyond me...

I also bought the Britax Marathon and ERF. Lacie will stay backwards until she maxes out on the weight limits. My MIL thinks I'm crazy, but I really don't care.

It is literally 500 times safer to ERF until 2 years or 35lbs.

The AAP (governing body for pediatricians) actually reccommends rear facing to the limit of the seat or 2 years. So that is the information pediatricians SHOULD be giving out. Also the bones of a childs spine and pelvis do not harden until after 2 years of age

IMO, you can't skimp on safety.
My 3 yo ERF before the phrase ERF was in fashion, lol.
My 12 month old will too
It's the least I can do to help keep them safe

My does not ERF.. She has been FF for quite some time now...

ETA: And DH is a firefighter/EMT... RF is not always the safest in all accidents.. neither is FF. So we choose to FF.

Strange, my friend was in an accident when her son was 12 months and he was front facing and the doc said because of THAT he did not get hurt.

Guess it depends on what kind of wreck you are in.

My child is 16 months @ 29 lbs & 33 1/4 inches tall.
