ERF

My child extended rear faces.
My child does not and it doesn't bother me.
I didn't know about ERF until now or before my child was 2.
I'm unsure of what we will choose for our child.

Well, no.

I don't ERF my kids. Oh well.

I'm adament about keeping them in a 5 point harness for as long as possible though so point for me. My 3 1/2 year old rides in a Regent.

I know about ERF and I talked to my pedi about it because she's awesome. She has 2 little boys. She said either or is fine and it was up to me. She told me when is recommended and then told me her personal opinion.

FYI: Recommending is just that...recommending. It means 'You could do this if you want...' Not 'OMG do this or your a bad parent.'

Breastfeeding is recommended. Witholding solids until 6 months is recommended. Not cosleeping is recommended.

Lots of things are recommended but that doesn't make it absolute with no exceptions.

Sophie is rear-facing, but there hasn't been a lot of conscious decision about it. We haven't even had to think about since Sophie hasn't hit the weight limit yet. I doubt she'll get much past 20 pounds by 2 years old (she's 19 pounds at 18 months).

At two we'll re-evaluate, I suppose. I don't feel like it's really ERF is our case though just because she's still not at the weight limit to turn around.

My son is still erf but I didn't know anything about this, nor do my friends until the last 8 months(here on BG).My issue is that I cannot find any Canadian laws, regulations, etc for erf.If anyone could help me find this info I'd appreciate it.

i found this topic very interesting. in NZ you HAVE to have your baby facing forward after they are six months old. my carseat is european and has the ability to be rear facing but when i was pulled over once at a checkpoint they told me i had to change it round.

Milo is RF. He is only 13 months, but he is about 28 lbs. His pedi actually told me that I could turn him around and there wasn't a need to ERF, but I think otherwise. I have 1 other friend who ERF's.

I don't ERF, my babies are huge. My son was FF at 1 yr and I'm assuming my baby will be too. She's 6 mos and 27 lbs already and tall. I just have big tall kids that would be too squished up. The outgrow their carseats sooo fast.

my daughter is in a ff carseat and so was my son at 1. they are perfectly safe. but i also live where a deadly crash is almost unheard of. since ive been here i havent heard of anyone dying in a crash. if we were in the states i would erf until about 1 1/2-2 or however long my kids are comfortable.

I think that's part of the reason that I want to ERF. People where I live drive like complete morons. I mean one time when I was still pregnant I saw a woman get a newspaper from walmart and as I was driving down the highway I saw her reading it while she was driving, and this jackass had 3 kids in the back of her SUV. I don't want to risk my son's life b/c of morons. Even though getting in the car at all is a risk I will try to take every precaution I can. And ERF for me isn't that big of a deal to do.

Well, we live around crazy people who all drive like morons in their Hummers.
DD will ERF until she's no longer able to.
A lot of folks don't ERF because they either can't find or can't afford a seat that allows them to. Mfrs. should really make more ERF options available.
