Cramp question?

Does period like cramps mean contractions? Sometimes I get stomach tightening which is uncomfortable and sometimes I get cramps like period type cramps is that BH? Sorry this is my first and have no idea what to expect lol

My SIL said that her braxton hicks felt like period cramps...so i can only assume yes thats what it is

Period like cramping with the tightening is what I feel. I was at L&D last night and they said I'm definitely contracting, but just in early labor so they sent me home. They feel different from BH for me, but they did progress from BH (not a sudden onset).

I'm on my first too, and now I'm so confused as when to go in. They were every 5 min yesterday, and I was 80% effaced, but not dilated. They're much stronger today, but I have no way to tell if I'm dilating without going in again. I'm just waiting until they're either unbearable, or my water breaks or something.

My contractions feel like very strong period cramps!
Sometimes they feel like someone is continuously (sp) punching me in the stomach lol..Trust me, I think you'll know the difference between real contractions and BH. Real contractionsare wayyy more painfuland dont get better when you lie down. At least for me..

I guess i'll do the same their not unbearable just uncomfy.

the tightening one's could most likely be braxton hicks and the cramps could be contractions.because i had alot of cramps on wednesday night and they was in my tummy ans my butt , so i went to the hospital and they said that i was contracting.
