What do you think??

We have the mattress from our old crib (my daughter is now 4 1/2) stored in our garage. WThe new baby will be arriving in February, and we are just starting to get things organized in the nursery. My mom seems to think that we can't use the crib mattress because it has been in the garage for so long.
Any opinions??

As for the matress, I would check it first. Make sure it's still sturdy and such.

My mom gave me the crib mattress that was used with my 9 year old brother. It is fine.

as long as ot was packed up right it should be fine

I am sure its fine, did you have it wrapped in plastic or anything?

Its not recommended to use an old mattress, but as long it was sealed & stored correctly, it should be fine.
Personally though, I would buy a new one.

Its not safe then. Dust mites, allergens, mold, etc are all dangers now.

I'm currently using my son's old mattress (he's 7 years old) for my 7 month old daughter. It was just sitting out and about until a couple months ago. I'd use it.
If there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with it, I'd so no reason to buy a new one.

Yea, I wouldn't use it. Then again I am a germaphobe.

The mattress is vinyl with no holes or anything in it. I was going to give the whole thing a good scrub before using it........??

thats the kind I have. Yes, a good wipe down is all thats needed.

as long as its clean i would buy a plastic cover for it if u really wanna cover all ur bases but i bought a used mattress for my daughter
