Teething.

posted 6th Nov
Patton is teething, has been for a little over 2 months now. He's got two teeth (His stomach teeth) coming through the skin. I can see them and feel them. NOTHING works on him for his teething. He hates cold things, teething rings are too big for his mouth, etc.

I've been giving him teething biscuits (though he's not quite old enough for them) and they seem to do the trick...

The only other thing I've found that seem to work are twizzlers. Yes, twizzlers.

Wow, he's starting out with stomach teeth?

My daughter is 10 months, only has two teeth and started teething when she about 2 months or so.   But shes starting to get her stomach teeth in, finally! Shes had these two since 6 months!

Yup.
The first two, his stomach teeth. Oh joy. He's been really good about it though. He's not really fussy and the only time he seems to get even a little fussy with them is at bedtime/naptime when he is sleepy on top of hurting. He's been getting a low grade temp with them too, he gets a tad fussy when he's temp starts to go up but I usually give him motrin and let him nurse for a few and he's fine.

You know what the "canines" or eye teeth are? They're the ones directly under those...

Yeah. They're not usually the first teeth to come in.

Yeah.
I feel bad for him. The other night they weren't bothering him before bed, no fever, he wasn't fussy, so I just went ahead and got him to sleep without giving him anything. Biggest mistake ever. He whined and wiggled so much. I woke him up and gave him medicine and he went right to sleep and didn't move/whine the rest of the night.

Motrin is all that ever really works for my daughter when her teething gets bad. She has no interest in any teething toy... besides biting me!   But she does like ice so I put ice in the mesh food feeder things for her.

Have you tried the tablets and baby oragel with him? Those never worked for my daughter but some claim they do.

Yeah i had to give lizzy med too. Hers are way sharp! I have never seen then that sharp on a baby before. I hope he feels better. I know that phase is no fun.

He hates orajel and I highly doubt he'd go for the tablets. He's a picky baby. Lol. He doesn't like teething toys either. We were at my SO's moms for halloween and they were all wanting to give him candy so I said okay but ONLY twizzlers or a sucker, so that it was something I could hold and he wouldn't choke. His teeth had been bothering him and once he got the twizzler, he chewed on it for hours. It seems to be one of the only things, besides the biscuits, that he'll take. So I've given him a twizzler once or twice for it.

I mean, I know candy really isn't good for him, but I don't think a twizzler once or twice is going to hurt him. -shrugs-

Yeah. He's fine right now. I gave him benadryl, he was allergic to something, his entire face was broken out and he was scratching at it. I gave him that and nursed him and rocked him and he went to bed semi-early.
