posted 5th Nov
Whats the best things you have tried for them? I've got some Medela Lanolin that i'm using and i'm also using a nipple shield. Nothing is helping and they are soo bad. when does this get easier?

Just wait it out.  I had severely cracked and bleeding nipples for the first 6 weeks.  I don't think they completely healed until 8 or 9 weeks pp.  See a lactation specialist to correct positioning/latch so they don't get worse.

definitely take advantage of it! i waited too long and now my nips are scarred from how bad the cracks were, and i got mastitis from it too.    just the smallest change in positioning made a world of difference! good luck!

Yeah i've tried different positions. He hates the football hold. I wish i wasn't having all these problems with them. They hurt so bad. I love nursing my son i really don't want to give up on it. So i think i'm going to get a lactation specialist to come to my house asap and see if they can help.

Try the cross clutch or whatever it's called.  I found that one easiest.  Also make sure when he's latched that you're holding the back of his neck and not the back of his head.  You schould be supporting his neck.  And his head should be poiting slightly upward, so you two can look eachother in the eye, instead of his eyes being directed toward your boob.

And I found lansinoh's lanolin to help a lot more than medela's.  You can also do salt baths on your nips, they heal faster.  Just make sure you wash them off before you nurse.

breast pads that are made of jelly like material. they feel cool against your nips and dont chafe since they are made of jelly.
