Advice (Swine Flu)

Sorry I havent been on here lately ladies its been quite a hectic month. (well october) I have been running a fever of 101.1 - 102.7 for about 3 days now it gets higher at night. I recently developed a cough and since I have severe asthma I decided I may have bronchitis (sp?) and made an appointment with my doctor. They tested me for the H1N1 flu and sure enough I have it! I am only on steroids for being in respiratory distress but they would not give me tamiflu due to it already being 3 days with a fever and symptoms. My question is I have an 11 month old who's crib is in my room and she has a small cough nothing major but any advice to keep her safe and would you guys recommend getting her the vaccine?

I got my 10 month old vaccinated. I got vaccinated and my spouse got vaccinated. Personally I would vaccinate her (obv) but it's you're choice and since she's already been exposed the chances of the vaccination helping any is slim. The vaccination takes 7-10 days to kick in anyway

Well at this point she's already been exposed to it so getting her vaccinated wouldn't keep her from getting it if she's going to get it.

But I am pro-vaccination, yes

Thanks and yes I do realize that now she has already been exposed but I too am pro-vaccination I am just scared because it is so new. How did your family respond to the vaccination? Any side effects?

I got the H1N1 vaccine (34 weeks pregnant) and my 4 and 2 year olds got vaccinated also. Tonight on the news I heard of a baby boy who died from H1N1 in Toronto Canada.. soooo sad

As far as it being new-

the only difference between the H1N1 vax and the regular flu vax is the strain of virus. All the other ingredients are the same. The only reason they are separate vaxes is the H1N1 strain came about after the regular seasonal vax was made.

Next year the seasonal vax will have the H1N1 strain included.

I hope that this H1N1 shit isnt around this time next year.. Like the Sars in Ontario... it lasted a year then it went away.

got a question after you got it did you have a cough bc i got the h1n1 shot and now i cant stop coughing

I just had H1N1 as well. I had to be on tamiflu. And because i had it, they went ahead and started my son on tamiflu as well and decided he shouldn't get the vaccine. So i'd talk to your child's doctor

Well ladies you were right!! As of today Evelynn is confirmed H1N1 I am feeling much better but now my little one is sick!   Please keep her in your prayers! She has stopped eating as of today also and has a temp. of 101-102.6! Hope you all stay healthy!
