I've been extremely sick lately. I decided to go to class because you get marked on participation. I have to blow my nose like every 10 minutes, and I'm sneezing ALL the time and coughing. If I miss class my grade would go down so I went...we had a quiz today too.


During the quiz, I kept sniffling. This girl turned around and said ''you're urkin me, can you either blow your nose, stop sniffling or just leave? I'm trying to take a test'' Then continued to talk about how she cant concentrate and I'm the reason she'll fail the test. The teacher sat there acting like ntohing was happening. Then I said, okay well when I'm sitting across the room, and you're smacking your gum, I don't ever say anything. This started an argument.

And Just guess who was asked to leave?! ME!?!


I'm not racist in the least bit. A good majority of the students come from Detroit. Many are black. Most teachers are of that race as well.The classes are usually always divided between blacks and whites. This class, I happen to be the only white person. Last semester this girl was as you could say ''out numbered'' by whites. But now since she has all her little buddies, she picks on me ALL the time! How immature. Is this just racist, or am I just sensitive?! I had to take a zero, and lose participation points!

maybe a bit unfair by not asking you both to leave but all the other consequences seem fair and not racist in any way shape or form.

I think you should goto the higher power and get your test grade.

That's what I was thinking. Because I do have a B in this class. If I don't get my participation and/or test grade it'll probably be a C. Also I hate to be whiney, but this girl is always disruptive and loud mouthed! I don't see why she didn't get asked to leave as well.

There was nothing in this story that struck me as racist.

I wish I could give the back story on all of this. I've been going to school for about a year though. And crap like this ALWAYS happens. And a select few students if they get a white teacher, say they failed the class, or it was unfair because they are white. if I could easily explain the backstory on it I would lol. I think if I can get the courage to ask I will haha. I'm usually the quiet shy person in class.

Go complain to somebody that has authority. You showed up for class, you should at least get points for going.

If you were sick, you should have contacted your teacher and made alternate arrangements. With so many people worrying about H1N1, it makes sense that she would be distracted and that you would be the one that would be asked to leave.

I don't even understand why you had to bring race into it....

It happened just now haha. My SO hates my venting so I come to babygaga and get it out. I should be in class rightnow =[ I'm going to go up there tomorrow morning and speak with the dean.

So, why would you bring up race at all? Are you accusing your teacher of being racist? I don't understand.

Yes. Basically it's a race issue between students/teachers. Students act one way if they have a white teacher, act another if they have a black teacher. When they have a black teacher, respect is shown to the teacher, and the teacher doesn't mark them down for things like absences. I've heard it myself in the classroom. If it is a white they claim the teacher is too hard on them, and they switch to a specific teacher. Do you kinda get what I'm saying? Sorry i suck at explaining.
