breastfeeding with rash around nipple

good evening ladies...this might be posted in the wrong place..but maybe i could still get some help......my son just made a month and two weeks old today and i am still breastfeeding him even though i hate it but i cant get him to keep the formula down so im still breastfeeding until he sees his dr...but anywho...i have a rash around my left nipple...the skin is peeling on and around the nipple..its cracked and it bleeds a little bit and last but not least (tmi) its white bumps around the nipple...ewww i know but what the heck is this and how did i get it??? i went for my six week check up on tuesday and my dr told me dont worry about it..but i dont think thats normal...any of you breastfeeding moms experenced this????

It sounds like it might be thrush

I had white bumps when I was lactating and they leaked in a hot shower (relief!)
lol I had a bacterial rash and thrush infection (thrush in my son's mouth as well). Call a lactation consultant from your local hospital. They helped me tremendously!

none of that sounds like a rash. the white bumps are totally normal, so don't worry about that. but the cracked, peeling, bloody skin is NOT good. that is a sign that there si something wrong with the latch your son has. which is no doubt making things very painful for you and my guess as to why you hate breastfeeding so much?? sounds like what you two needs is to see a lactation consultant.

see thing is, is that i pump i have actually put him on the breast but that hurts 100Xs more than the pump...so i just pump my milk plus i am not going to put my son on my breast and it looks like that.

your suction may be too hard. you need to let them heal or it's going to continue to cause you a lot of pain, and an infection could occur from the cracked area...try using less powerful suction. it ma take longer to get the amount of milk you need, but your nipples will thank you. also try staying topless as frequently as possible. use your milk to soothe them. take some expressed milk and put it on your nipples and let it dry. you could also get some lansinoh brand lanolin to help them out.
