18-20 Gauge?

is it bad to use 18-20 gauge for piercings?

More along the lines of lip piercings?
I left my labret out for 3 months now and I miss it. I can't get my 16 gauge jewelry through but I can get 18/20 gauge through it.

I don't see why not. At the moment I have 18s in my lip. (Snakebites.) When the newest one is healed I'm going to up to 16s, maybe 14.

18 should be fine

18 should be fine seeing that its smaller..

I remember someone saying something about infection with smaller gauges.
I'm not sure if that just meant while it was healing or not.

it would only be bad if you tried to shove the 16 or bigger through, any smaller sizes are fine

I know for lips you dont want to small because it can get ripped out easier. I've seen people's lips get ripped open from everyday catching when they used to teeny of a gauge.

I keep 16s in my snakebites... but I don't think an 18 will be that bad for a bit. My friends belly button was pierced with an 18g & normally around here they do 14g. When she needed a new belly button ring, we cleaned her belly & the ring, left them wet & the 14g slid right in lol.

I know my piercer said if it ever fell out he would have to use a taper to get it back in if the hole shrunk

yes, tapers are good, shoving is bad lol. it could open it up, make it swell, irritate it, then you would have to start cleaning it and wait for it to heal all over again. just leave the 18 and if you eventually find some 16s you like go back to your piercer and have him taper them in
