Eczema?

posted 5th Nov
My son has had really bad dry, red bumpy skin all over his face and the back of his head since he was born. When I asked his doctor if it was eczema he said it wasn't. Now he is over 4 months old, and it has only gotten worse! He not only has it on his face, but it has spread now to his ears, his wrists and parts of his arms. I tried used Aveeno Baby Eczema SkinCare cream, and it first it worked great as long as I applied it everyday. Now when I use it, it does nothing. Even if I apply it 3 times a day! Does this sound like Eczema to you?

I am asking because if it is, I want to get a prescription lotion from doctor to make him feel better! I really don't want to sit at the doctor's office with him either with all the flu's and H1N1 going around   Any suggestions?

Have your daughter call in hydrocortisone and put it on 3-4 times a day. If it is eczema, it will start to clear up. If not, it won't hurt him. Good luck!

Also try to limit bath time, wash him only when your about to get him out so he doesn't sit in the soapy water too long.

Walgreens sells a cream called 'Eczema'. It's in a white bottle. If it is eczema that should help. :]

In order to get a prescription of any kind I have to actually go to the doctors and get him towrite it for me and take it into the pharmacy
I can't just call him, or get him to call it in unfortantely!

I am so sorry to hear that. My daughter went through the same thing. It was horrible. I bath her using Cetaphil wash and I only bath her every couple of days. I also use the Cetaphil cream (not lotion). The doctor also put her on a steroid cream which has worked miracles. I also give her a 1/2 tsp. of Zyrtec every night at bedtime. I hope this helps. Your babies are beautiful. I am a twin too. YAY for twins. =]=]

We've had the worst time with Eczema. We use Aveeno hydrocortisone cream. It works for the most part but he still has some. The doc wont prescribe him anything. We do oatmeal baths every bath. We only bathe him every other day too. If you have to bathe them more often you can put some Aquaphor made by Eucerin (its a chap stick consistency) on the spots that are the worst first. That way the water doesnt dry it out more. My poor baby bleeds sometimes because it's so bad. It breaks my heart. Good luck!
