Day Care Vouchers??

posted 5th Nov
ok so i've applied for day care vouchers before from DSS and they told me that my SO has to be on child support in order for me to get them.
I don't feel that it is necessary to put him on child support because he is there for me and his daughter and buys her whatever she needs when she needs it...
if he wasn't i would def do child support...

but my question is, I've heard from some, that you don't have to do CS for Daycare vouchers..that there is another way....
is there a way to recieve daycare vouchers, without cs??

btw i live in Howard County Columbia, MD

thanx for all help

If he pays through means that can be tracked, then that could help (like checks instead of cash)?? That helped me formy mortgage approval. The memo on the check said "for Ryan" (my son). I don't know because I qualified for a special daycare for low income families and the less income, the better in my case LOL

well since you live in california...i don't know that it will be offered...
but you could try to look it up on google or something..
there are different policies that apply for different states/counties...
if you have a department of social services in your area..they may offer it, but u will have to look it up for ur area mama...

Well that's what I mean. They cannot track the cash. Ask her if you get checks a certain date every month, that kind of tracking.... if that would work for them as proof... That's why they like CS because they can keep track of it.
But why don't you file for CS then? Because it will help the two of you. It takes a while in my state.... but try doing that, too?

i just don't feel CS is necessary..
i feel that it's only necessary if he wasn't helping me out willingly...
my dad was on child support for me and my brother, because him and my mom got divorced and he didn't give a damn about us..he was never there, and he was ordered CS by the courts..
i know it would help with the whole daycare thing...
but i'm not too worried about it coz soon i will be working in a daycare and she will be able to go there for discount or free..i'm in the process of getting my 90hr certificate so that can happen....
i was just wondering, because i've heard of other mama's being able to get it without CS.....that's why i made the post..to get other input..

oh ok
Yeah... CS isn't a negative thing in this situation.... it's just so they can see and keep track that your bd has always been helping you. Only to help you with daycare. But that's smart to work for daycare.... glad that's going to help you. I thought the checks to keep track would be a solution as it was a solution for my mortgage approval for proof of my bd's help....
Sorry I couldn't help you further. Most moms on here are SAHMs from what I noticed. Probably why low response.

i hear ya, i tried to work things out with BD under the table and he wanted to act stupid and pull the dna card so i said fine, ill file for child support and they'll give us a free dna test   long story short, he definitely regrets turning down my generous offer lol

I don't know about your state but here in Guam if you are recieving some type of support a notarized letter is good. It doesn't have to be through court. Ask about that. Maybe there are other ways around it. Just tell them how he supports willingly.

I know exactly what you mean with the attitude problem. Sometimes I think they just want to give us a hard time because of the fact that it's public assistance. But if you call you might find someone more eager and happy to help. It's your business how you run your life and it's not her call to tell you to just put him on CS.
