carseat question..

My baby is due almost any time now and I checked my carseat to find out that it expires December 31, 2009...Does this mean that I have to find the money and try to get a new one or do you think that I can have my local police station inspect it and tell me its still good? Of course it looks fine to me. The straps still fight tightly and buckle securly but I'm not an expert so i don't want to do anything that will risk my baby's life.

Once it expires you can not use it anymore. It is unsafe. The plastic does not hold up for more then the alloted amount of time.

The pd or fire dept will not tell you it is still good if it is expired

so didnt know that car seats expire...hmm where do you look for the expiration date?

yeah where do you find the expiration date?? I have had 3 carseats given to me and I have no idea if i can use them or not...

look under the car seat and it will have a date on the plastic. I didn't either until someone told me about it! thanks for the input mommas. Now I have to find money somewhere to get a new before the end of the year =( I didn't know it was the plastic...I just figured it was like the belts or maybe not staying fastened while the baby was in it.

It is normally under the front of the carseat, sometimes you have to pull the cover up.

Mine was on the back. There's like a lot of stuff thats wrote in the plastic and the exp. date is in the middle I think.
