D&C Q?

im going to post this here i guess..

my friend lost her baby in sept and had a d&c on oct 1st. she is thinking that she could be pregnant again. i just wanted to know how long it took u ladies to get af again. i had an mc but it passed naturally is it any diff with a d&c?

it depends how far she was, how far the baby was, etc. It could take UP to a month to get the HCG completely out of her system. best thing for her to do if she got a bfp is to get a blood test to cofirm her numbers. then a beta to make sure they are rising and not falling.

i dont think she was that far along. maybe 6wks. thanks tho i didnt know that about the hcg thing

when she had the dnc? or is that how far the baby was? like for example, i was 14 weeks when my dnc was done, but the baby was only 10/11 weeks.

I actually had the same situation. I had a M/C at 11w3d on January 8th, 2009 then had a D & C on January 20th, 2009 because they thought I would pass it but I couldnt. In February I got an infected salavary gland and my physician wanted to put me on antibiotics. I was told by my OB that it takes 4-6weeks for AF to arrive after a M/C and it had been 5 weeks and no sign of AF so I did a urine pregnancy test. It came up positive so I went back to my OB and had my blood drawn and sure enough I was pregnant. Unfortunately because of my hormone levels being so low because of the first M/C I ended up having another at 6weeks in March.

The only way to truly know is to have her hCg drawn because after a M/C you can still have hCg in your body and not be pregnant giving you a false positive with a urine test.

My OB said it is never good to get pregnant back to back like that becuase your body does not have the time to recover from one. He told me to wait 2 cycles before trying again and I did and I ended up pregnant after 4 and the pregnancy is completely healthy so far.

hm. i think thats when she had it done. i havnt realy talked to her much about that bc she was really upset she wanted the baby so bad. she went in because she was bleeding and i guess the baby had already died?

i thought so my cousin had one in january as well and her dr told her 3cycles. and i was also told 3 cycles when i lost mine.she really wants to get pregnant again so nothing i say will change her mind. heck im pretty sure her dr would have told her the same thing. but its her body.

I understand there. Its a hard thing especially when you wanted it badly. With my first M/C it was unplanned and then after I realized it was happening whether I wanted it to or not I was super excited so when I had my M/C I wanted a baby thats what made me so eager to get pregnant again. After the second one I was in a total depressive stage and my SO was really blunt and just said WE HAVE TO WAIT! We waited and started trying when the dr told us to and sure enough 2 months later we were pregnant! I am 17 weeks and everything is perfect with my baby. I truly think it takes a strong person to overcome and accept what we want but cant change. Eventually she will be more understanding. I can totally rationalize with her because I was in that SAME boat and its devastating. Whats worse is the D&C. Because up to that point your body still thinks you are pregnant. After your D&C you pretty much wake up crying and its reality rather than just news if you know what I mean.

what will be, will be honestly. i was told to try when i was ready. it took us 4 cycles...but it worked. we have a may mama who got pregnant right after and she's 12 weeks...so it kinda just depends on wahts in store ya know?

I had my D&C July 13 af on Aug 9 and found out i was preg with my son sep 11. Good luck to you friend.
