Rewards for lil' kids...whats a fun way?
posted 5th Nov
What would be a fun way to reward homeschoolers ages 4-7 for their job well done? I want to do more than just put stickers on their pages, I do hang up their work and tell them how proud i am and all, but im looking for something fun and exciting to do for them, like some kind of rewards, or have like a reward chart or just something fun, but im not sure exactly how to go about it, any ideas??

a fish bowl with candies in it, maybe some party favors from the dollar store?

You can try a marble jar. Whenever they get a good grade or do something that you feel warrants it, put a marble in a jar with their name on it. When it hits a certain number (5,10,15) take them to buy something special, maybe a toy they've been wanting, or go out to lunch with them.

A friend of mine goes to like the dollar store and gets a bag of little toys that are inexpensive. She also puts in a couple of other semi big things that they have been wanting ie CD, DVD. She then has a goodie basket. When they are good, or do something nice out of the ordinary they get to dig into the basket and pick what they want.

maybe go buy some cheap little toys and put them in a basket or seomthing and let them pick one out when they do an exceptional job.
or liek you said make soem sort of rewards chart and put stickers on them when they do a good job. and whoever reaches X amount of stars gets to pick out what tehy do for the day, or some other reward.

That's a great idea! Even for kids who aren't homeschooled. I think I'll use that when my kids get old enough.

haha same idea
My daughter's preschool also did that with a behavioral chart, your last idea. If they were good they got awarded a sticker, after 10 stickers they got an award, just a little candy or dollar store toy.

Great ideas! I also have a huge glass pickle jar I about threw away the other day and decided to hang on to it incase it came in handy for something. I been thinking about the idea of maybe decorating the jar andhaving them take some squares of construction paper, letting them put their names on it and decorate it, to make like little tickets, and when their good or done good work or whatever, they can put one of their "tickets" in the jar and once they reach like 10 or so in the jar, they get a prize, like maybe go out for ice cream or a special toy or go to the park or something...

How about a special field trip. That would be fun too.

that's a good idea.
you could even write little slips that say what they'll get. put them all in the jar and then when they've done good let them pick outta the jar and tehy can do what the slip says.

I would set up a little "store" with different items, and use play money. They can earn money as a reward and can save it to buy things out of the store. Teaches them saving, the value of money, etc.
But I can also see why you may not want to rewards grades with "money" and the perception that may make...

An alternative to the marble jar is a sticker chart.... same thing though

We have a "special box" it has little yoyos, bubbles, etc. When Jonathan does extra good he gets to choose one out of the box. If hes not in the mood to try and is just going through the motions I tell him to try so he can get a prize and he tries more.
I am soo doing the behavior chart thing not for school but for sanity. lol but I am going to give him ___ amount of money for doing good and getting ____ amount of stars
