Luvs are good diapers too, a box is $16 instead of $19, but get the Store Brand (like Parents choice) theyre much cheaper!

The hospital may provide you with a small pack or two of newborn diapers. My hosp did. Well there was 2 packs on the cart andwe took them (they tell you that you can!). He was 8lbs10oz. He was out of them in like a week. I never actually bought nb diapers.

Diapers and Wipes (Take all they will give you at the hospital!!! I got sent home with 2 packs with my last baby). If worse comes to worse, use the cheaper store brands until you have more money
Sleepers and Onesies (this is all my kids wore for the first few months of their lives!)
BF (its free!) or Formula/bottles
Carseat
Bassinet or something for the baby to sleep in.

These are things I consider absolutely necessary
- Bottles and formula if you're going to FF
- Playpen (usually cheaper than cribs, plus a lot of them come with bassinetts)
- Clothes - onesies, socks, t-shirts, pajamas, snow suit type thing if you live in a cold area
-Car seat/stroller
- Diapers, wipes
- Thermometer/nail clippers

I think everything else you can do without until you can afford it. Are you going to have a baby shower?

I know its hard hun but you just need to relax a bit. You have tons of time yet. I'm 27 weeks and still don't have the first thing for the baby.  Lots of people, possibly your family, are not going to think of the baby shower until you are much closer to delivery. I am not sure about your state but you should have no problem getting food stamps and medicaid in time. Lots of states rush pregnancy medicaid or have a certain division devoted to it. If you check out your phone book there should be a community outreach type listing in the front and as long as you are not ashamed to ask for help, it is out there. I know you are nervous momma but you need to just relax. I have had a couple kids and have never had a hospital or doctor ask me about my birthing 'plan' so maybe you should bring this up at your next ob appt. if it worries you. I've been in your shoes and everything will work out fine, I promise

It helps relieve gas and helps with colic if your baby has colic.

Not all babies sleep in a crib right away.

One was donated to me, but my LO has yet to sleep in it.
The first few weeks she was very fussy, so we co-slept.

If you don't feel comfortable with making something for your LO to sleep in, the cheapest idea that someone threw at me, was to buy a moses basket.
It's like $25 at Walmart.

Other then that:
-Diapers
-Wipes - I just used Paper Towels, and ran them under warm water. Cheaper that way!
- A few clothing items - My family is very generous, and my LO has a room full of clothes that she can't wear yet. She was born 6 lbs, and at 10 weeks she still doesn't fit into newborn. She wears the same few things a lot.

Good luck! You don't need to have all the money in the world to care for your baby!

CAR SEAT!! Can't leave the hospital without one!
Somewhere for the baby to sleep- my daughter uses a pack n play still, we bought one for my moms house, got it at Once Upon A Child for $35, Brand new!! It has the bassinet feature too.
Diapers- we buy in bulk at BRU, Huggies. My daughter is allergic to all the other ones except Target- but they don't hold poop well- until its more solid.
Wipes- also buy in bulk, from Sams though, they are a little bit cheaper than anywhere else. We get 720 wipes for $12, w/coupons. That last us about 1.5m if not longer- we tear them in half and I swear thats why we don't have to buy them often, plus it makes them easier to fold and get the most use out of them.
Clothes- Socks, onesies(about 10), sleepers(about 10-15). She lived in sleepers for the first 2 months. We used socks for mittins so she wouldnt scratch herself.
Lots of blankets! Teagan loves to snuggle, but I don't like holding her while she sleeps, so I have to wrap her up in order to put her down for naps.

I buy a lot of her clothes from Once Upon a Child and other consignment stores, I could buy elsewhere but I choose to save the money and use it for other things she might need. Most of the clothes they sell don't have tears/stains on them, or they won't buy them. I can get sleepers for $1.50-$3.50 each, onesies they usually have about 3 for $2.50.

Sorry it's so long! I know how it feels not to have money for the things you and your baby need.
