Sippy Cups

posted 5th Nov
Michael just started holding his bottle by him self yesterday. I was wondering what is the average amount of time you give them to get use to holding the bottle before introduceing a sippy cup?. Also what is the best no leak kind that you have experienced?. Thanks ladies =) BTW he just turned six months on the 2nd and his adjusted age will be 5 months on the 11th.

About 7 to 9 months is when i started to use the sippy but by one the bottle was out the door. Nubby was a good start one for me. Its soft like a bottle. It drives me crazy when i see a 2 year old still drinking from a bottle.

Thats extly what I think. About the time frame for trying a sippy and the 2 year old thing. I was thinking mabey around 7 to 8 months trying.

I agree, 7 - 9 months, I'd look into a sippy.

I hate the Avent bottles but I loved the Avent sippy (and the playtex sippy).

I started giving Mason a sippy cup at 6 months though he wasn't exclusively using it until 9 months.

Yeah go for it. Lizzy is 2 and drinks out of "big girl cups" Sometimes with a straw but she dosent go runing around with it. She knowsonce shes done to put it on the table and then go play. Just keep in mind its all trying. I know to some its early but if you feel there ready for the next step up then go for it.

I got the really good ones lizzy hated them. The nubby is only $2 and she loved them. I would just try one at a time and see what works the best.

I agree. It's really difficult to find one that you like, that you're satisfied with that your child (for me, my niece) would take. So, this is great advice... just try one and a time until you find what works best for you both then stock up!

I feel he will prolly be ready to try a sippy cup when he has been doing the bottle thing for about a month. In the end though its up to him though if he takes to the sippy or not.

sounds like a plan..its just so hard to believe that he is already holding his bottle, scooting some, going backwards a bit and then next thing you know a sippy cup AHH lol

C doesn't hold his bottle yet. But he can hold a sippy, since it has handles. He's almost 7 months. & I use the Nubby sippy cup brand, its awesome. & Very cheap at walmart.
