Genetic Testing (kinda long)

I took Chloe for her first appointment with the genetic doctor Tuesday Nov. 3rd. Her weight was 10 lb. 14.5 oz. and she is 22 2/3 inches long. The doctor wrote down her birthweight (4 lb. 15 oz.) and then her weight now at 5 1/2 months and said that because she is breastfed she is going to be small but she is gaining weight at a nice speed. He said yes she is underweight but that's because the chart is based off of a formula fed baby or milk fed kids. He said that since she is breastfed she is at her normal weight. He told me that the doctors that referred Chloe to him wrote in their notes that they think she has some abnormal facial features but he thinks she probably doesn't cause he can tell she has my eyes but he thinks the rest is from her daddy. I showed him where her backbone sticks out in the middle of her back and he said that it could be a problem but it could fix itself as she gains weight so he is just going to keep an eye on it. People with genetic disorders are often short, have slow weight gain, and a visible malformation which in Chloe's case is her ears. He took blood to check her chromosomes count and to make sure none of them divided but I won't get the results back until 2 or 3 weeks from now. There should be 46 chromosomes (23 from mom and 23 from dad). She goes back on November 23rd for a weight check and hopefully the results. The G.I. doctor will be doing a biopsy to see if Chloe has Hirschsprung's Disease. I am so scared because she has most of the symptoms listed for it. Please keep her in your prayers!

but the whole "because she's bfed, shes going to be small" is bull . . Brycen has always been in the 90th+ % and he was breastfed til he was 20 months. He was 20lbs at 6m/o.

He was 8lb 3oz . . shes probably just tiny because she started off tiny, not because she's bfed

okay..that's what I think also but I feel all her problems are linked to something too. and thank you about my son.

OMG she is the cutest little thing!
Do you know if the doctor was plotting her growth using her adjusted age since she is a preemie? That can make ALOT of difference.
I hope all testing comes back clear and you just have a unique little cutie!

he adjusted her age by 3 weeks because she was born at 37 weeks.
