Huge clot (TMI warning).

I gave birth vaginally four days ago. Everything has been going great, except for last night I had some brief pain in my lower abdomen that was almost unbearable that eventually subsided.

Tonight, I went to go pee and passed a huge black clot of something that is about 3/4 the size of my palm. My husband freaked out and says it looks like a bloody liver or a piece of my placenta. I called L&D, and they were basically like, "Call back if it happens again."...

I mean, it is really shocking. I'm not running a fever or anything and I feel fine now. Has anything like this happened to you? I saved it and I'm planning on taking it to my OB tomorrow to ask him what the hell it is.

that happened to me, but i had an infection from where a piece of the placenta was left in...

My doctor said it was perfectly normal to pass clots as large as a lemon. Its normal

I had some pretty huge black clots after some cramping, they told me it was just my uterus shrinking and what was left of the old blood falling out lol. Charming.

This would have been gross if you posted a picture haha. Are you sure it wasn't just blood?

That makes me feel a lot better. But I mean, black though? And it seriously looks like a piece of placenta. I'm sure I'm just wigging out... but JESUS...

But I'm positive it's not blood. It's like two inches thick and feels like a solid muscle.

dried up blood turns black... so that would be why it was black. hah

I didn't pass any at all though, but then again, I only bled for about 5 days and was done.
