Am I the only one?

posted 4th Nov
With a child who wakes up screaming, wide awake not like a night terror..He runs away and will not come near me, this happens maybe once a week. He will sit on the ground throwing his body everywhere freaking out, If i go near him he screams "no" at me and kicks me, if i walk away he screams "momma" but then "no" if i go back near him. He has no fevers or anything when he does this. He used to get bad night terrors, but he is awake so i know thats not what it is. When he starts to calm down after like 10 minutes I pick him up and rock him until he goes back to sleep.

No. those terrors, they can be awake but still having them. My husband has Day mares and knew who i was and everything (from Iraq) and he hass actually grabbed me and threw me on the ground with him thinking we were getting blown up and yea.. but we keep him on his pills and he does okay..

But your son sounds like hes aware that your there, but hes still having the terror...... Ive heard of that before. I dont have a child.. but been around alot of children. I myself used to sleep walk, sleep talk, conversations that you would think im wide awake.. things like that, and you can be woke up at any point in time during those.. and be like WTF..

I mean is he aware that he is freaking out?? Or does he seem totally oblivious after that 10 mins..?

He seems pretty aware he is freaking out. He is wide awake now laying by me watching toy story. Usually after we finally got him soothed and awake after a night terror he would calm down and go back to sleep. But with these he will be wide awake and just quiet.
