If you practice CIO

Do you continue to practice CIO when your baby/toddler is sick? Maddie has a cold and is waking up every now and then crying and coughing. Do you go in to comfort your kids and make sure they're ok? Or do you wait and see if they go back to sleep? This is the 1st time she's been sick so I am unsure what I should do.

I never let me kids CIO if i know they are sick...the only time I let seth cry a bit was when he had croup as a baby and I was up literally 3 days straight and I was a lone, stuck in the house with a nonstop crying baby. I needed a couple minutes to recoup

when my 20 month old is sick and cries I go right in. He sleeps through the night anyway, so when he cries I go right in because obviously something upset him.

When Alaina is sick, I tend to her when she cries. Usually I go in there right away because she usually needs her nose suctioned or just some cuddles from me.

i give them a minute or so, but letting them get all worked up when they are sick, may just cause them to get a tummy ache and puke or something, All the mucus and crap from having colds and whatever along with all the extra from crying. Even when they aren't sick I don't let them get too worked up.

If she is sick she is probably uncomfortable, I would definitly comfort. Its not like she is just angry or upset about something, poor LO is not feeling good.

i dont use CIO, but if i were you i would go in...

dont you like being cuddled and comforted when youre sick

i dont CIO but i think that's extra-cruel if you don't comfort and care for your child when their sick. that's sad

I walk in and give her the binky. It only lives in her cribby anyway, and all she usually wants is to know she hasn't been abandoned forever. I tell her 'night-night' and she puts her head back down and sighs contently.

i do not think she is being cruel at all...She was not sure and its an honest question. No one is a perfect mom
