Ideas for healthy breakfast meals?

posted 4th Nov
What are some good things to have for breakfast? (Trying to eat healthier)

Also, what's good to eat before working out?

Thanks for any ideas, going grocery shopping tomorrow

well, I know its good to have a fruit, grain, and a protien... Keep that in mind when making breakfast. Fat free yougurt is great, granola (make sure and only eat a serving, it has sugar in it but it's fine in small amounts!) pretty much any peice of fruit.
One scrambled egg
a whole grain waffle with a smear of peanut butter
cereal is fine, try adding banannas or berries! Most cereals (even the kids kinds!) Don't have THAT much sugar in them, some even have less than granola or other "healthy" cereal options. Make sure and read labels. Eat a serving; then fill up on fruit (not juice. Juice is bad for you, unless you're drinking V8 or something. )

A banana peanut butter smoothie, I made one the other day it was so good, 1 1/2 frozen bananas, 2tbs peanut butter and some milk, blend in blender until smooth .
A couple of eggs and whole wheat toast with peanut butter (I love peanut butter, lol)
A bowl of oatmeal ( I buy the big thing of plain oatmeal) add dried berries and a bit of brown sugar.

I just made (and froze) a bunch of breakfast meals for my husband.

Probably the healthiest would be an egg/mushroom/red pepper/onion breakfast burrito. He loves getting them at Mc D's, but I just don't trust anything they make so I made my own! He can throw a little salsa in there after he warms them up and he's good to go.

Eggs are good for you because they have alot of protein in them... esp. egg whites

Thats a good idea, my husbands status update on facebook this morning was how there weren't any decent breakfast burrito's in the area, they turn out ok after you microwave them (well they must or you wouldn't do it, lol)

Yep. Work better if you take them out the night before so that they are thawed, or else sometimes you get the spots that overcook a bit in the microwave in order to get the whole thing hot. I added a lousiana hot spice (it's a dip mix from Epicure actually) to the eggs to give them lots of flavour.

I keep telling my husband how spoiled he is lol! I made a bunch of those and 6 batches of pancakes to freeze this morning!

egg muffin thing
1 pt on ww

15oz southwest style egg beaters evenly distributed
8oz block of fat free cream cheese evenly split up
1 cup of fat free cheddar cheese evenly split up
1tsp of fat free salsa

bake at 400 for about 15min or until the parmesan starts to brown

Breakfast sandwiches

12 Light English Muffins (biscuits or bagels would also be good)
12 eggs
12 slices 2% sharp American (or whatever cheese you prefer)
12 slices ham (you could also use sausage or bacon)
Misc. Seasonings

Open english muffins & lay flat. Top with ham, cheese, & seasonings.

Spray non-stick pan with cooking spray. Cook eggs over hard, piercing the yoks several times with a fork early on in the cooking process.

Add eggs to the sandwiches as you finish cooking them.

Wrap sandwiches up in wax paper. Put in container & freeze.
