re: Speech Threapy Evaluation

Quoting loving life!:“ Ok I just wanted to know because Quentin never developed the showing thing and has always been fascinated ... [snip!] ... Q's therapist basically just plays with toys with him the whole time, and all the activities are very easy to do at home!”

Thanks!

When will you know for sure?

I have no clue. We have been to multiple doctors, none of whom can really tell us much yet. Hoping to see someone more familiar with developmental delay/autism and things like that closer to him being two. Which is only in about three months but I can't decide if we should do it sooner or later.

Laurie I'm looking up FREE speech programs in your area. That would work if insurance doesn't want to cover it in the event he needs it.

It appears that if he has one of the following listed here (which you won't know until after the eval of course):
https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/?id=3525.1343

he would qualify for this:
http://health.minnesota.gov/divs/fh/mcshn/ecip.htm

looks like they'll even do an eval. It appears to be the same as our "early on" which is a free program to infants and toddlers.

Very cool, Megan - thank you! I will keep these book marked in case I need them.

We are still working very hard at home and it seems to be helping, but I don't doubt that he is still behind. We will get there - even if our insurance doesn't cover it, we will figure it out. I just don't want too much time to go by.
