Horrible "mucus" cough?

Ok. Here is whats going on.. I'm new to the "mommy" biz hehe.
My daughter is 19months and 20 pounds.

Last week.. she ran a fevor of 102.. until it spiked at 103 we took her to the ER.
They told us she had Pharingitis (sp?) type of sore throat.
Gave her amoxy to take to feel better.. well the next night her fevor was still 102.. the next morning.. her fever finally broke.. and she was then covered head to toe in a rash..
now she isn't allergic to amox.. she has had it before and never had the reaction..
so I called the doctors.. who then said to stop taking the meds.. for now she has Rosiolla(sp)..
the rash lasted about two days.. and is now gone..
but now... she has this horrible horrible cough.. a lot of mucus in the cough.. sounds really nasty.. and she has a runny nose..
she acts perfectly fine ..like nothing is wrong..

So many people are telling me different things to give her.. doctors say just to wait it out..

sooo long story kinda short.. ha..
I want to know what you guys give your LOs when they are sick....
any rememdys to help soothe..

When my son was sick like that, his pedi recommended those mucinex for kids mini melts... the orange box for coughs. She said give half a packet and if that doesn't work, just give the other half. It works real fast and really helps my son.

That worried me, too. I don't give my son too much, but it's the only thing that's helped his mucus-y cough.
