private insurance?

For those of you with private insurance how much do you pay per month? I have been looking at quotes for me and the two girls and it seems like its between $200-$300 a month for all 3 of us to have good coverage and not a $10000 deductable lol I just want to see if that sounds about right of if I am just completely lost and have no clue what I am doing.

I'm about to start researching myself. I currently pay $800 per month for myself & my son. Dh's is completely covered by his employer.
Today we were informed that we've no been paying enough & we'll owe about another $170 per month & that we owe over $3000 in back payments due to a clerical error.

whaaaaat? thats messed up! Yeah my DH has coverage through his work for super cheap (like $30-something a month!) but to add on a wife and 2 kids would put it at about $600 a month so we are just going to do private insurance. I entered in all our info for a quote and the most expensive I have found was around $400 but it looks like we can get a pretty good plan for less than $300 a month for all 3 of us.

I hope I can find something. What we pay is just outlandish! I could freaking buy a piece of property & be renting it out for that!

btw this is the site I used and when I asked for a quote from them (Kaiser Permanente) they showed a lot of other healthcare plans that are available. I think it would work for you too since you just put in your zipcode so they check what is available in your area.

It's just such a waste. We are three healthy people. I go to the Dr. maybe twice a year & Dh goes like once. Our son goes for his well checks and the occasional illness, but that's it. No reason we should be paying that much.

yeah same here. no medical conditions and I am not overweight or anything (i know they charge you more if you are). non-smokers, ect.
