So my BD bought up the good point of teaching Vi Spanish as her first language and then English. His side of the family is Spanish and I wouldn't mind her being bilingual. If she learns Spanish as her first language, will she need ESL when she gets older? Or can I teach her English and Spanish together? Will that confuse her? Should I learn Spanish more fluently (I can speak it well, but can learn some more) before I try to teach her? Sorry for all the questions

I would say speak both languages to her. That's what we're going to do with Leah when she gets here.   The majority of my DH's family only speaks Spanish, and the majority of my family only speaks English!

I know a ton of kids who were raised speaking both languages. The worst thing I see happen is their English is a litlte confused, but once they get into school it gets corrected.

Teach her both languages at the same time. Or at least right around the same time.
I've read that a baby will learn 2 languages easier when they're learning to speak, rather than later on in life.

my son is 2 years old and i am trying to teach him both. My boyfriend and I are both bilinguel and my mom speaks only spanish to him..
Im going to be honest it is a bit hard trying to teach him both at the same time mainly becasue my and my BF speak to him in english most of the time.. He knows that Beso means kiss and only says beso never kiss he knows how to say shoes in spanish and he can say if perfectly if we ask him to repeat something in spanish, but he mainly is speaking english.
My mom taught my brother and I spanish first and we learned english in school which went pretty well.

Sure you can teach her both together! Theres no reason she can't speak both and learn both from the cradle up.It'll be a boon for her since Spanish is the second most spoken language in the u.s,maybe the first depending on where youare.
When I was two and my brother was three we spoke both American and Spanish, but lost the Spanish when our family friend moved back to Bolivia.Teaching her both at once might make it easy for her to learn faster.
