Not being able to have baby shower...

posted 4th Nov
After trying to make a trip home for a baby shower, we have come to realize it just isn't going to happen. Me and my SO live 9 hours away from home, due to the Navy. He isn't able to receive leave until December, and by than neither of us feel safe with us traveling that close to the due date. And I have people asking when we're coming home for a shower, etc.

So my question is, since we aren't sure when we are able to make our lovely way back home, would me posting a note on my FB saying hey, since we're not coming home before I have Kenny, nor do we know when we can after he's born, if you want to get him something send Gift Certificates or any online purchases to my address (and list the address) would that sound desperate to you? Cause I'm not, I just was wondering how to go about this.

say something about being registered at target, bru, etc.

and if someone buys something online they'll automatically ship it to you.

Why not register at Target or Walmart and register for online purchases? Post a note on FB saying you aren't having a shower but send a link to your registries in case they wanted it....

Could you try to do an 'online' shower. You could try to do it on skype? I think that would possibly be an option for you

Honestly I wouldn't say that.I would just say that you regret that you won't be able to travel before the baby comes, and possibly not for a while after. If they want to throw you a shower near your home, and or send a gift after then there shouldn't be any obligation.I know I send more things to people that aren't stretching their hand out-and I know that you aren't expecting gifts, but only because you told us so.

I don't see a problem with it, they'll more than likely understand that you can't make it, and if you want to go afterwards home afterwards it should be fine...probally not untill after her two week apointment though. (first is the two day appointment, then two week...then its two months)

Yeah I'm registered at Babies R Us cause my friend drove down and was like OMG we gotta go and register you! Thanks everyone! Cause I was talking to my one friend, I love her to death, but kinda sheltered, is turning 22 this week and just got her first job a couple weeks ago, and has had mommy and daddy take care of everything for her, etc, was like IDK people might think your desperate if you do that!

I'm not having a shower until after the baby is born because I'm not finding out the gender. Maybe you could wait until after the baby is born to have your shower, too?? Then you can travel up there and everyone can meet the baby

That's a problem also cause we truthfully don't know when we will be able to get leave and be able to afford the trip. =[
