OB appt update

posted 4th Nov
So my OB is a tool bag... and I'm pissed. He basically told me today that he won't be there during my L&D at all because he's out of town half of next week, and most of the week after that. Why the hell didn't he tell me that months ago? He knew when my due date was... Worst part was he said I'll just have whatever on call OB is there, and I don't get to meet them ahead of time.

Anyway during my NST, I had contractions all over the place, but not consistent times apart. He checked my cervix, and it was soft, but not dilated at all He has me on the schedule to be induced next Thursday, but it really depends on what happens when I see him Wednesday. Next Wednesday when I go in, if my cervix is ripe, he'll send me home for the night and have me come in Thursday morning for pitocin. If my cervix is so-so, then he'll keep me there Wednesday night and have me put on cervix-ripening drugs so I can be induced on Thursday morning. If my cervix has done nothing, then we will have to reconsider inducing on Thursday at all.

Hope for a ripe cervix next week!!

That's how my dr.s' office is, we get whoever's on-call.

But don't worry, the doctor's usually only in there fora little bit anyway. The nurses do most of the stuff, just hope you get nice ones!

Yeah I figure the nurses I end up with are much more important anyway... as long as the Dr doesn't try to make any stupid decisions during the whole thing, I'll be fine. I'm high risk, so I pretty much listen to whatever they tell me anyway... there are just a few things I know I don't want to happen unless absolutely necessary (i.e. episiotomy)

Yeah, getting stuck with a shitty doctor sucks. I was induced and my second day there, the doctor didn't want to break my water, so for 5 hours nothing happened. As soon as the next doctor came on, he broke it and things progressed at a rapid pace.

I wish you the best of luck!

You're right: the nurses do most of it.

My OB wasnt there for mine either. Its always whoever is on call here. But my doc was only there for the last of it, my nurse did most of the delivering.

Best of luck! I can't believe it is time for you to have him already. Time flew.

If it makes you feel any better I had the doctor on-call deliver Kyle also and I liked her a lot better than the OB I saw my entire pregnancy. Like everyone said, the nurses are the ones doing most of it.

Yeah... I kind of hope whoever is on call has small hands so the cervix checks aren't as bad. My OB, who's a pretty big guy, shoved both his hands up there today and I'm still sore from it

The few females I've seen have been the biggest bitches ever... I don't necessarily prefer a male, but for some reason I tend to get along with them a lot better.
