Whoa...It doesn't bother me; I don't stay up at night thinking about it. I was just debating it, bring all sides of the discussion to the table. I know plenty of people who have left this site because of others, and it is true that no other site is any better. Unfortionately, that's just how humans are. And it is good to be able to have an outlet where you can say and do anything that you want to and not get banned. I just think that it should be done within reason, just like everything else.

I really don't understand people leaving. That's why the ignore function was created. Sure, you might have whole pages of ignored posts, but at least you don't have to look at posts by anyone you find objectionable.

I apologise then. I misunderstood your point.

Let me give an example of why I like it here better than iVillage.

I was 5 months postpartum when I found out I was pregnant with my third. I went to iVillage to get help from the women I thought were my friends. I was considering abortion and needed to talk to people.

What did I get? No replies on the board but my inbox was full of hate mail and how I didn't deserve the 2 I already had if I was willing to abort my third. I also had one of the community moderators reply in my post and tell me to get help elsewhere because that was a parenting board and not for help with abortion. I was hurt and angry. I never went back.

If I were to post it here, I'd get a few PLers but I'd get support. I don't care if people come off as crude. I like that I get support or a slap upside the head right here. If anyone gets out of hand, I'd have friends telling them to layoff.

Such restraints like that left me battling 20 people on my own who said very hurtful things at a time where I needed an ear the most. No one could come to my rescue and tell them to lay off.

It wasn't really a debate at all. At least not for me. Just a discussion. Just a random, wandering thought in my head that I posted to hear what other people thought. I found reading what other people had to say insightful.

Quoting God:“ Do you really think those things? You wonder what's wrong with the entire life of someone based upon one post? C.”

No it was just an example. I wouldn't think it based on one post. I will however wonder things like that after seeing someone have a repetitive behavorial pattern, post after post, week after week, on here

Well, making a judgment after repeated behavior is more understandable.

Quoting God:“ Wrong? Well, that's subjective. But, if you're asking someone what's wrong with their life because you've come across one post? I think that's says more about you than about them. C.”

It probably does apply more to me, considering it's a side effect of my personality and career. However, sometimes in forums people are like bad automotive accidents and you can't help but wondering how it happened and if everyone is ok.

Eh it wasn't an assumption. It was an analysis. I posted it solely hoping that she would see it.....and she did. Things went from there.

Quoting Owen's Mommy!!:“ i agree... when i first came on this site everybody was welcoming and friendly and had great advice to offer..”

I agree. I'm a newbie. A newbie mom, a newbie BGM..... I spent a few months as a guest on here to get a feel for the site, and the people. At first, people were nice and seemed very welcoming and helpful to everyone else. So I joined. But when I actually got on here, and read some posts that girls were just asking ADVICE, got crude, bitchy remarks, I was mortified!!! I joined this site for advice and encouragement. We all need a bit of this from time to time....

Most people do offer advice and are helpful. A few are not. You'll find that anywhere.

too true. It just seems like there are a lot more negative people on here lately. Maybe if all of us "good" mammas ban together, and ignore the ignorant, crude and unnecessary comments, they'll just go away?! (Wishful thinking.)

Yeah, I doubt they'll go away, but at least we'll keep our sanity intact.
