High White Blood Cell Count?

Has anybody had a high white blood cell count and everything was fine?

In July my white blood cell count was slightly high, the doctor said I was fine and not to worry. I seen my doctor last week for upper abdominal pain and I had blood work done.. I still have a elevated white blood cell count. I'm getting a little worried now, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Did they test for mono?

Mine is high too, has been since I was a little kid. I wouldn't say everything is fine, BUT, they can't find anything wrong. Good luck

Since mono stays with you forever? Would you forever have heightned white blood cells?

I do.. it is really weird
My white blood cell count is 14.0 (h) it is suppose to be between 4.8-10.8
but my red blood count is low. it is 3.23 it is suppose to be between 4.20-5.20

nope. i always had that since i was little but then again i also have low CO2 (oxygen)

Good question - I don't think your cell count stays high forever though (even though the EB virus does stay). Once the infection is gone, the counts go back to normal, I think (but I'm not sure). I just thought of it b/c the ohly time my white count has been elevated is when I've had mono.

your white blood cells are what fight off infections. when you have a high count of white blood cells it means your body is trying to fight something it off.

I know what white blood cells do.... They can't find a infection and its been high for months.
