New thing...

that my son does lately....squats on the floor whenever he's making a surprise in his diaper for me. i think it's hilarious, he just sits there and does his business, usually he'll just run around and make a few noises and then SURPRISE. but i definitely know when it's poopy time....anyone else's baby do this? (he's 1 y.o. on the 17th)

thats actually awesome, its a great way to stat potty training! when you see him squat, get him to the toilet ASAP!

=( I still need to get a potty.Or one of those adapters for the toilet seat...and a stool. LOL. not prepared for this at all. my child psych professor says potty training too early or too late can be psychologically damaging, and the best time to *start* is between 18-24 months...i started at 1 though, just imitating my mother...but if he's squatting..it does seem right to start... lol.

depends on whos theories of development you believe in.... Freud thinks that almost all development is based on sexual stuff, and that sexual issues are based on development gone wrong, etc..... but plenty of others (piaget, erikson, maslow) dont make that connection at all.... i think if you FORCE a child to potty train to early, you run the risk of psychological issues, but if hes squatting, etc, youre jsut responding to your child, the individual, not the mass chidlren that are needing to be potty trained, KWIM?
