My b/f and the Army!

posted 4th Nov
Somy b/fhas an appointment today to meet withan army recruiter and im not too happy about it! i want him to be here for the baby. Im not sure how long the boot camp will be and i know from my father being in the army that you go to drills now and then! but im just worried about the whole thing. He said he wants to do it to help better our soon to be family, im not knockin him for thinkin that way but it just worries me! maybe im over acting or maybe im not..is there anyone on here going thru the same thing or has already?? Is it even worth him being gone for all the more you gain from the army..i dont know!? i know its fighting for your country..but doesnt seem like a good idea when you have a baby on the way!?

it's worth it and it's a good idea with a baby on the way because it's great, guaranteed pay and free medical.

We're going through the same thing. My son is now 5 months old, and my fiance is starting the process tomorrow. To me, it's worth it, if something does happen I will feel terribly guilty. But the chances of him getting hurt are pretty slim. I say it's a good idea.

My boyfriend is going into the airforce when he gets out of school in june and our daughter will be about six months old. Its so scary to imagine that I'm going to be doing some of the parenting alone. But where we're so young and the military has so many great benefits it is worth it in a way.

My husband has been in for almost 3 years now and I had my son while he was deployed to Iraq, he's now 5.5 months old and daddy is due home next month!!!! It's tough but so worth it IMO, you make some great friends, pay is pretty good once you move up in rank, and healthcare is amazing. You'll learn to deal with it as you go.

alot of people are doing the exact same thing, the benefits are so worth it. He is making a good choice, I wouldn't be mad about it, at least he is trying to do something to better your family unlike alot of guys out there that are just fucking deadbeat dads.

my dh is in the marines, and i can tell you that army basic traning is short compared to the long months that my dh was gone.the benefits are amazing, and the pay is great when you move up in rank,i think hes doing something wonderful to help advance you and your growing lil bean =) i was afraid of doing this(pregnancy)along too,but we got lucky and a few ppl in his unit got deployed and they held him back because i had just moved here, and we were starting our lil family. You make friends w/e they decide to station yall, and sometimes it seems like a giant adventure.it has its pros and cons..but i wouldnt change this lifestyle for the world =)

i know for us we have to be at the duty station for at least 2 yrs then we can pcs to another duty station,we are hoping to get stationed in cali next..we've been here going on 2yrs now and im ready to get outta this state.lol
i dont know if its the same for the army and their duty stations if you have to be there a minimum of 2 yrs..then have the choice to pcs somewhere else..we can stay here up to 7 yrs..but we'd rather not..we wanna be closer to family lol
and congrats to yall too!!! i know making that decision to join or not is quite a hard one..and i applaud all the service men and women. it really is an awesome adventure and we save money living on base..not to mention i loove shopping on base..no taxes and the comissary is cheap when it comes to groceries!

yes, you'll most likely be moving around to different states every couple of years. it's hard to adjust to but after a while it's nice getting to see so many different areas.
