Goodbye binky!

posted 4th Nov
when did you guys start weaning from teh binky?
Liv is 10 months, and no more bottles.
But she is a SERIOUS binky baby. She needs it 24/7. She seems to have a hidden stash because if I take one away, she finds another.
She'll be going to daycare in January, and there they only give binky's for nap..so I'm trying to get the process out of the way now.

How hard was it, and about how long did it take?

do it cold turkey, over a weekend, expect crying..... take a page from supernannys book, and have HER throw them away..... might help!!!i would think 2-3 days most and she would be over it....

we just did it this past few days. mia is 11 months.

it was sooo much easier than expected, she would have it all the time. to start with we just gave it her for nap/bed time and after 4 days took it away all together and we had a few moans during nap time but all day and bed time she is fine.

good luck

I did it cold turkey when Brayden was 2 months. We started sllep training at that point and the binky was not part of the plan! I just took it away and after a few days he was over it. He was fussy for maybe 2 days, but nothing unbearable. He doesn't even want it anymore and he won't take it anymore.

Yay for no more paci!

We just took away paci. She is 22 months old. It was hard at first but after a week of no paci she doesnt ask for it. We cut the tips of all her pacis. The first 2 nights were horrible. She cried her self to sleep, but by day 4 she threw all her pacis away. We have been paci free for almoat 3 weeks!

Thanks for your input ladies. I Think we will start with the morning and nap only (first I have to find all of them, she has to have a secret stash) then slowly take tehm away.

My livy has never been a fan, she didn't want anything to do with it. She took it a little bit until she was like 3 weeks old. My son used his until he was 7 months and just spit it out oneday and never wanted it again...so idk how you would. Good luck though.

Shawn is the one that got Jaxon attached to the paci by giving it to him whenever he cried... of course by the time he calmed down if I took it away, his tantrum came back.

We were told to cut off the tips of all of his paci's & we did that around 12 months, he didn't even care & went on playing, napping, & sleeping just fine... At that time I was working constantly & Shawn had him so of course Shawn happened to find a paci that wasn't cut & it became Jaxon's best friend... I was pissed.

THEN! Shawn started working again (September) I said "no paci if you aren't sleeping" - so far it's worked! I really want to break him completely before Aubrey comes.
