Dental Question - involving stepkids

Quick Question…

I’m takingmy two stepdaughtersto their dental appointment tomorrow. (We havecustody of them) They haven’t been in 2 years. The office they normally go to has expanded and all the Medicaid patients have to go to the “new” office. Which means all new paperwork, etc.

I just got a voicemail to confirm their appointments and it said to make sure that a parent or legal guardian is at the appointment to fill out paperwork. Now, I’m not a legal guardian or parent… but they don’t know that. I know all their information to fill out the paperwork, and we all have the same last name. Their Medicaid is also in my name. Think everything will be ok?

It's not like they are going to ask "You are their mother, right?"

I'm not positive, but if you're married to their dad then you are one of their legal guardians, aren't you ? I also can't see them asking "you're their mom or legal guardian" especially if you all have the same last name.

Just my two cents.

Technically, I'm not. Bc step parents don't have any 'legal' rights to the children. But I take care of them 90% of the time.

I guess I was asking to see if anyone else has been in this situation. I mean, we have the same last name and everything, so I'm sure it won't be an issue.

The main reason I'm taking them and not my husband is I have vacation and sick time at work I can use. If he doesn't work, he doesn't get paid.
