ABREVA. Works great. 15-20 buck for a tiny thing of it, though. But a little goes a long way and it really works.

Salt.. at least that works for when i have them. Lick your finger and dip it in salt and hold it there for a bit. Hurts like hell but it seems to clear it up faster and releives the pain for awhile.

salt IS a natural healing agent. Good idea.

Non-medicine? Well, this may sound weird-- but put NAIL POLISH REMOVER without Acetone on it! It dries it up fast.

nothing works to get rid of them faster. I've had them all my life and I just got in the habit of using Blistex the medicated kind and I rarely have them now unless I'm getting sick. Chapstick always made my lips drier. If ones coming on I actually pop it (like with a needle) and it isn't so painful. gross but it works for me.

Run a regular tea bag under warm water, then put it on the sores. Hold it there for as long as you can... at least an hour or so. Repeat with a clean teabag throught the day... it will dry them up. But it may stain your skin for a while. Don't use chapstick because it will make them spread. You can also use rubbing alcohol on them... soak a cotton ball and leave it on them for a while.
I know you want a nonmed way, but ask your doc for an rx for Valtrex... it's expensive but totally works.

i use alcohol on a clean qtip. then blot it with a tissue...keep doing it every few hours till it dries out...then use neosporin to heal it quick.

Gosh I'm sorry you have them, mama. I know they HURT...alot. I hope something works for you. If it does work (the salt) come back and tell me in this thread. I'd love to know an alternate to the ABREVA. I get them once in a while too.
