h1n1 vaccine

Who got it while pregnant? Im supposed to get it tomorrow but now im getting nervous that it will some how harm my baby or something. I want to get it since she cant get a flu shot til 6 months and she will be born in prime flu season. But who got it? I just want to make sure a lot of people are getting it so i can feel better about it  

I could be wrong, but I don't think you getting the vaccination while pregnant immunizes her when she is born.

I don't think your shot immunizes the child either. It's just you. I'm getting the H1N1 shot today, my doctor recommended I get it and I don't see what the fuss is, if the doctors are pushing the fact pregnant and small children get it, I really don't think it can be that bad. You just have to be careful with your little munchkin so she doesn't get sick when she's born.

I got it on Friday.

I wasnt going to get it but I got it on monday since my ob's office had it. Its made the same as the regular flu shot and wont harm you or baby, I did some research since I was skeptical and all is well.

I got it yesterday and so far I'm feeling fine.

thanks for posting. i needed reassurance that other people are getting the shot. it seems like the majority of people on here are not. i am taking my daughter to get her shot today. 

I didn't get the shot. & ended up getting H1N1 and so did my 18 month old. I'd recommend getting the shot though. If you get it, and still get H1N1, the recovery time is supposed to be shorter. And i'd kill to be done with this sickness already.

I had the H1N1 vaccine last week 2 weeks ago and everything has been fine since... The vaccine does help keep baby protected because mother and baby share immunity during pregnancy, and at birth, babies are temporarily protected by their mothers' immunity. Especially if you breastfeed afterward!

Yes it does.
Your child, when born, has all the same immunities you do for the first...man I think it's 2 months of life.

I'm not getting it because my doctor won't even recommend it. There's little known about the vaccine and the people who created it won't even get it. Nobody knows the long term effects on it and it makes me worried. They put this vaccine together in 2 months, that's scary.



My mother is an RN and that's what i'm going to school for so we like to be informed on all this.

Hopefully your doctor is as well informed about the vaccine as you think he/she is to be taking their advice alone. I think the decision to vaccinate is personal and to each their own. I received the vaccination for myself to keep my baby and myself protected from what has proven to take the lives of pregnant women and their unborn.

My doctorand obsaid they wouldn't recommend it until the baby is born.And my siblings asked their doctors and pediatricians and they also said the same.
