Eating a lot more!

posted 4th Nov
My daughter is three months and 1 week old and she has been sleeping through the night for at least a month now. All of a sudden she is getting up every 2 to3 hours crying and starving! She eats about 4 ounces and thenpushes the bottle away and is fine for another little bit My husband thought trying to give her more initially but she isn't interested in more which is fine. Do you think this is a growth spurt or should I be asking my doctor if she needs something more? Or is she too young for that?

It may be a growth spurt or it may be a "new normal." hopefully the wakings wont last long. I'd make sure she is truly awake and not just calling out or making sleep noises. also, see if she can be soothed back to sleep with a paci as sometimes babies just need to satisfy the urge to suck.

i know my friends son was only 2ms when they started him on cereal. nat was 3 1/2 months. we started without talking to the dr use the rice stage 1 easy digest stuff i dont think that would hurt.

I hope it's not a new normal lol but if it is, then it is. But we try with the paci but she has started sucking her thumb recently and she will barely take the paci. So I can hear her over the monitor sucking her thumb really hard and she cries which normally she doesn't do. She is normally good at self soothing hense where her thumb sucking came from. Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it!

I thought about it but I don't know if I should be asking my doctor first and do I give it in the bottle or on a spoon? My mom seems to think it would be ok since she started both my brother and I early but that was like 27 years ago haha

i was just looking online the other day when babies have growth spurts, and it said around 3 months is one of them, so i think its a growth spurt. my daughter is almost 8 weeks, and she had a growth spurt at 6 weeks and that is exactly how she acted.

hmm well give it a week or so and see how things go. usually during a growth spurt they will eat and then sleep, but i also read that they eat a lot and are really fussy. i hope whatever it is stops soon!!
