Ugh. It makes me so sad to live in maine today.
Question 1 passed, which was a bill to reform the gay marriage act that passed last year, so now we've digressed in the march of civil rights.
I really don't care how people feel about the issue, or what their religion is, I think that they should realize that not all marriages are religious. But they are till legally recognized. In a "civil union" if a spouse dies, their partner does not automatically get the house, andpossessions. But in a marriage they would if there was no will.

I think what irritates me the most is that for the people who voted yes, they were tricked into believing LIES from thecampaigners. Question one actually had nothing to do withchildren'seducation, and they claimed it did to try to get people all rilled up about protecting their children.

Anyway, I honestly don't care how you personally feel about it, but I think it's ignorant to take your feelings and use them to disregard another persons.

I like gay people...and It doesnt bother me....but it bothers me because they say they want to be treated equal....yet the things they want.....not even a a marriage containg a man and woman can get...so its not being treated equal...they want special rights...and thats not fair....

They don't want "special" rights. They just want to get married and have the same protection under law that other minorities have.
So, if their rights can't be protected then we shouldn't protect the rights of black,Asian, or otherminoritieseither.
I have never met a gay person who wanted anything more then that.

Perhaps the world should have Gay History Month so the children can be properly educated then  

And hell, all my Transexual family ever wanted was to go out in public without being assaulted, screamed at, spat at, abused etc etc.

When I found out the mormon church basically funded the campaign against prop 8 I felt sick to my stomach.

All the suffering and good they claim to do but they spend millions on reversing gay marriage because god doesn't like it? Where else could that money have gone ffs?

I'm sorry but god is a big boy (or girl) and he/she can look after himself/herself. If his/her rules are being stepped all over then I'm sure he'll/she'll let us know at some point.

Then again, if gay people could get married then they'd probably be able to have kids or adopt easier and then.. their gay children will spread the gay through the schools of innocent children D:

See you don't hear much about it over here in Australia. I had no idea what happened. It wasn't until I was talking to someone trying to get signatures outside of Macy's that I found out and jeez I could have puked in the bushes next to him.

Why can people in jail get married? why do they get conjugal visits? You don't put a child in time out then give him a lollipop. How can that happen but 2 people that happen to love someone with the same bits as them can't get married?

I totally agree again, I think its ridiculous that inmates can get married let alone have weekends alone with their "spouse". People focus to much on girl/boy not enough on love. Just because people might share the same kind of genitals doesn't mean that they cant love fully. I dont understand how "god is love" can be preached in the same breath as gays are going to burn in hell. How is that love.... frusterates me how the US can come so far yet be so behind with the times
