Pregnancy Testing too Early?

I had sex last week on th 27th and 28th which is the time that I usually ovulate (My period is on the 13th every month).
I took a pregnancy test tonight and it came out negative.

Did I take the test too early?
It's only been a week so I'm guessing that I did.... ?
How many weeks did you wait to take a test?

Yeah that's what I was thinking but my close friend was like "No! Take it!"

Just about the earliest you could get a BFP (pos. preg. test) would be at 10 dpo (10 days after ovulation). If you ovulated on Oct. 28, you'd be at 6 dpo now, so yes, that would be too soon to get an accurate result.

I got a BFP at 10 dpo with this pregnancy, but most people won't get one until 14 dpo or later which is why it's recommended to wait until you actually miss your period as that would be 14 dpo or later by then, usually.

You generally will never get a BFP until you are at least 10 days after ovulation.
It's cheaper, and more accurate to wait until your period is due before you test.
