Sippy?

When did you start your LO on juice or water in a sippy?
Jay had her 6 month appt today and her pedi said to start deluted (sp) juice, and water in a sippy. I'm a little hesitant about starting a sippy so early.. but, he said not to put it in a bottle. [no clue why]

How was the bottle to sippy transition for your LO?

i took bailey off the bottle like 2 weeks ago and she didnt even care....shes on a sippy cup all the time now....idk where her bottles are lol

We use the Gerber Nuk training sippy. He took to it immediately. I started by putting breastmilk in there for him to drink at 5 months.

Putting juice in a bottle is bad for their teeth, and sets up a bad habit later on. Bottles should generally only be for breastmilk or formula.

I think they say thatt because when you give juice in a bottle it causes cavaties. or something like that...um hailey personaly HATES the sippy cup and shes 15 mnts ;/ but she will drink a cup with a straw thats the only way shell drink water or juice. i need to take her bottle away from her already;[

I would try a sippy with a silicone spout like Munchin's. We got the hard plastic spouts by Playtex and she was so confused as to what to do. We started at 6 months, and she got it right away with the Munchin sippy but I don't give her juice, they don't really need it. She is still mainly on the bottle though at 8 months.

Make sure she can sit up and has a good grasp on her bottle............if she can't hold her bottle, how can she hold a sippy cup right?

In the beginning, they act weird and throw it on the ground and could careless, but they get use to it eventually. Plus, you might have to try different kinds of sippy cups. I took the suctions out of them so my kids could get in idea what it was; especially if the suction is stronger than a bottle.

My LO is 10 mths and just started on a sippy, I tried to give him one at 6 mths but he didn't want it. He seen his cousin with a sippy the other day and picked it up and started drinking it, so I bought him his own. He only drinks it when he is actually eating food or snacks, he still gets a bottle at naps and bedtime

i put juice in makaylas bottle! LOL  

She wasnt havin the sippy action... Until just recently she figured out how to use a straw so i went and got her straw sippys and she loves them..Now juice and water goes in sippys and formula in bottles...  

Am I supposed to put milk in the sippy also? or continue with sippy and bottle?

i put milk in baileys sippy, but we have a seperate sippy for her milk and a differentone for her juice

Isaiah started the Nuby sippy cups last month BUTTT I ordered the ThinkBaby transition cups! So hopfully they'll work.
