Pitocin!!!!!!!

posted 3rd Nov
I watched Riki Lakes documentary about labor and delivery in the US....I am shocked...i heard giving women the combination of the epidural and pitocin is resulting more and more in C- sections...this scares me....i don't want my child to go into cardiac problems because their blood flow is restricted due to the pitocin, and not be able to effectively push because of the Epidural???? has any one else had positive, or negative experiences with pitocin.......or a bad hospital experience??????

I had a horrible experience with my induced labor. I was 39 weeks and had low amniotic fluid. The induction failed and it distressed th baby enough to pass meconium during my labor, when I had my c-section she had meconium aspiration and was in the NICU and I didn't get to see her for 10 hours. I will definately be avoiding pitocin next time if I have a vbac.

I've had to be induced al lthree times with my children due to one medical reason or another. Twice it was done with Pitocin. Both of my younger children were born healthy and rather easily. Granted, I didn't get an epidural, so maybe that's the difference.

I had both pitocin and an epidural with my first delivery.....and it went perfectly fine. Not a single complication.

I had pitocin at 8 cm when my labor stalledand no epi with my second. No complications except her prematurity. (obviously not from the pitocin, lol)

I had pitocin and no epi (spinal block is what I got) with my third and also no complications except those from prematurity. But she was also a c-section if that matters.

I had pitocin & an epidural w/ my first. I did a lot of research (I've seen that documentary as well) and decided to go completely drug free w/ my last 2 deliveries. I'm glad I did.
