38 weeks..

This is my first post, but i've been surfing the website for months.
All of you ladies seem awfully helpful, and i'm definitely in need of some support. I feel bad complaining since baby is healthy, and i'm healthy..
But i'm just feeling really run down.

I went in for my 38 week checkup today and found out that i'm 4 cm dilated, and 80% effaced. The baby is really low, and everything seems in order to go..
I started having contractions every couple of minutes this afternoon.. not the kind that take your breath away, but they were definitely grabbing my attention... I waited a half an hour or so before telling anyone..
and then made the mistake of telling my boyfriend.. He then called his mother.
My soon-to-be mother in law rushed over to take me to the hospital before i was even thinking about going..

Turns out it's a false alarm..
as i figured. I spent hours at the hospital getting poked, prodded, and monitored before being sent home to rest.. and wait.

The only bright side of the day was seeing how happy/excited/nervous daddy-to-be was.

The baby is never coming out, is he?

He will come when he is ready..he has 2 more weeks technically so just be patient and enjoy the peace and quiet before he gets here.

nope, along with my baby.
and yours can't come out until mine comes out.

Haha I know exactly how you feel and man if my MIL did that I was cut sick!! I was having contractions for 5 days and then they just stopped. When I went for my check up a couple days later I was 0 everything, 0 dilated, 0 effaced.. Made me so sad, I was having all those pains for nothing   and that was at exactly 38 weeks. My little dude doesn't wanna move down, he finds my ribs more comfortable... glad it is for him

I'm glad i'm not the only one who's convinced their baby wont come out.  
My blood pressure has been ridiculously high, and the doctor is concerned...
But last Thursday i was only 2cm, and today i was already at 4..
So she's convinced he'll pop out on his own within a week, and there's no need to force him out..

But God, i am praying for midnight contractions.
REAL ones.

dont feel bad my LO isnt coming out either... and I am making NO progress at all inside ... & we all get the pregnancy blues (i think)... lol I know I do...

last time i was checked, about a week ago, i was only a finger tip dilated! so you're lucky you're dilated that much!


i want some real contractions too, but i know i won't be wanting them when they actually come. lol.

Sounds like it'll be soon for you. Within a week def. Once you hit 5, they will keep you at the hospital. I had my first son at 38 weeks and my second son at 39 weeks...both very healthy. Good luck.
