i could use some advice from some experienced breastfeeding

So i am a new mom and I am exclusively breastfeeding. My daughter is five weeks old today, and I am def. positive that I have both an overactive/forceful letdown and also an oversupply. That being said...I don't know what to do to make it better for her. I've tried to express some out before feeds...and that does help but obviously i can't do that everytime i need to feed like when i am in public places etc. I've tried to do the football hold, which i've read online in several places and they said it would help...but she won't nurse in that position. she does every other posistion...but not that one for some reason. I just don't know what to do b/c she always seems so uncomfortable during feeds. she's gaining weight wonderfully,, she's in the 95 percentile so i'm not concerned about that. i just wish that i could somehow make her more comfortable and have less gas, etc....so to any other mothers who have/have had this problem...HELP!!!

I dealt with the same thing and the only thing that worked for me was laying down while breastfeeding (which is pretty difficult to do in public, you may just want to pump and give it to her in a bottle when out) and once she got older/bigger it didn't and doesn't bother her anymore. After about 4 months it was not that big of an issue. Tennyson's 9 months now and you would think it was never an issue.

yes she does choke on my letdown. most times i have to pull her off and let it all squirt out a bit before relatching her, which is very inconvenient.   anyway i will def. go check out kellymom.com thanks for letting me know about that!! and as for nursing lying down that is probably our go to position for bfing, but the thing is after feeding her in that position she spits up a lot. thanks for the replies everyone! much appreciated.
