We have a video monitor and it has been great for us. I'm glad we didn't get a regular sound only one, because I put my daughter down for her naps on my queen sized bed, and she isn't always noisy when she gets up. I didn't begin using it till she could crawl, but it's been invaluable for us.

I have the summer handheld as well. I LOVE it! Now that she is in her own room, if I hear her fussy I don't have to get up right away, I turn over and turn the video on to see why she is fussy. We haven't had any problems with it. You can also hook it up to the TV. It doesn't take batteries either. Plugs in or it has a rechargeable battery to use when portable.

The video monitor we got has night vision and sound...I think it will be amazing, I am pretty excited about it!! My mom said that she wishes they had them when I was a baby lol.

Thanks ladies for all the reviews , im definitely going to give the video monitor a try, no harm in it atleast seems like everyone has the summer ones which target has a lot of ill just go for the ones with the highest ratings

I LOVE my video monitor. It went on the fritz and we had to send it back to the manufacturer....longest week of my life. We've already picked out the one we're getting for the new baby. We're going with another Summer Infant one, this one that rotates so you can adjust the camera as the baby rolls. I think we're going to put the new one in Alex's room and the stable camera in the new baby's room since it'll be a while before she's all over the crib like he is.

Oh and the night vision rocks, we've never had a problem with the picture freezing, and we have never reception problems (which is amazing because DH is in IT and everything in this house is wireless..lol). Worth every penny, absolutely my #1 recommendation to any expecting mom.

Thats the one I have and let me tell you especially when they are more mobile she likes to move from one side of the crib to the other and all i do is move the camera to where she goes and falls asleep she is a wiggle worm this camera has really been a lifesaver for us!!!

wow so you can move the cam with the monitor that i would have in my room?
i think i was actually looking at that one, it had 4.5/5 rating and its blue the cam sorta looks like a webcam?
